MST Stands in Solidarity with the Venezuelan People and Denounces the Imperialist Offensive
MST denounces the escalation of US aggression against the Bolivarian Revolution and reaffirms solidarity with the Venezuelan people in defense of sovereignty and Latin American integration

The Landless Rural Workers’ Movement (MST) publicly expresses its solidarity with the Venezuelan people in the face of the latest US imperialist offensive against the Bolivarian Revolution. We denounce the actions of the United States against President Nicolás Maduro and call on the Brazilian people to support our sister nation.
On 9 August, Donald Trump announced an increase in the bounty for the capture of the Venezuelan president. Trump offered $50 million for Maduro’s “head.” The United States has no legitimacy to violate the sovereignty of any country, not least because it is not an example of democracy.
The United States is responsible for a series of sanctions and blockades against Venezuela – just as it does against Cuba – that prevent the entry of food, energy resources, medicine, and other essential goods into the country. In addition, the US has looted and stolen Venezuela’s legitimate public resources.
In the face of this historic imperialist offensive, which aims to retake control of Venezuela’s territory and oil, the Venezuelan people resist and strengthen their unity and sovereignty. Thanks to the Bolivarian Revolution, Venezuela is no longer the US’s backyard but the home where millions of families build their future.
What Trump is doing against Venezuela is similar to what he is trying to do with Brazil: mobilize traitors to destabilize the country and violate national sovereignty. President Lula has been exemplary in defending our sovereignty, just as President Nicolás Maduro has been historically. We expect the Brazilian government to stand in solidarity with the Venezuelan people, given the similarity of imperialist actions. We also call on Brazilian popular organizations to demonstrate their support for and defense of the Bolivarian Revolution.
